In this month's issue, we feature Juno-nominated vocal jazz artist and CIRAA Board member Emilie-Claire Barlow. Emilie-Claire talks about topics such as running her own label, building and managing relationships, expanding into the international market and navigating the "do-it-yourself" indie business model. Also in this issue is a summary of the recently released Ontario Media Development Corporation study entitled "A Strategic Study for the Music Industry in Ontario".

In this CIRAA feature, Pavlo discusses staying true to his musical passion, his formula for building a successful career and pursuing a major label and an R&B superstar for copyright infringement.
Features an interview with Derek Sivers, founder of CD Baby, who recently sold the company. He talks to CIRAA about D.I.Y. strategies for indie artists, tips and tools and what he's up to these days. Also features a Q&A with CBC Radio 2's new Executive Producer of Daytime Programming, Kai Black, to get some information about the major programming changes that will launch September 2 on the national radio network, and their plans for independent artist airplay.
